Segregated Labour Deployment

German and Austrian Jews were conscripted for forced labour from the end of 1938. Geschlossen emphasises the spatial segregation of Jewish forced labourers from non-Jewish workers, who were classified as “Aryan”. By 1943, almost all German Jewish forced labourers had been deported from the Reich to the death camps, where they were murdered.
