Anti-Slavic racism

Discrimination and persecution of people of Eastern European origin. Negative stereotypes about Eastern Europeans have existed since the Middle Ages and became solidified in Germany from the 19th century onwards, forming a racialized image of “the Slavs”. Eastern European peoples were often grouped together and attributed with many “inferior” characteristics. Anti-Slavism, often intertwined with anti-Communism and anti-Bolshevism, played a significant role in Nazi ideology and particularly in Germany's war of aggression in Eastern Europe.
