A few days after the German invasion of Poland in 1939, a decree by Reich Interior Minister Wilhelm Frick ordered the construction of brothels for “workers of a foreign race”. The Nazi regime wanted to prevent sexual relations between German women and non-German men. The people forced into sex work were non-German women, most of them deported from Eastern Europe.
