Satellite camps were small to medium-sized concentration camps set up from 1942 near major armaments factories in order to use concentration camp prisoners as forced labour. Administratively, the satellite camps were part of a large concentration camp (main camp). By the end of the Second World War, the majority of concentration camp prisoners were interned in satellite camps.
